Kids Love Design - Design Festival
Illustrations for the main exhibition of the design festival Kids Love Design that took place in the art gallery TRAFO in Szczecin, Poland (April-May 2014).
TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art was opened in 2013. It is located in Szczecin – the Polish capital of the German-Polish border region Pomerania.
TRAFO serves as a multifunctional meeting platform for artists and visitors. It introduces the audience to the tools of art by putting them in various contexts and transdisciplinary relationships. Visual works interact with literature, music, theatre, social sciences and new technologies.
I had a honour to create there two big exhibitions curated by Beata Kuracinska, both as a main part of Kids Love Design - Design Festival.
The theme of 2014's edition was Pop Art and I created illustrations refering to the art of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney and Claes Oldenburg as well as to designer furniture such as Sofa Bocca or Miller's Marshmallow sofa. The project also included design of wallpapers, stamps, animated gifs and even a big Campbell soup can, you could hide inside or pose for a photo. Most of the illustrations were really large-sized and some of them also funcioned as an augmented reality.
