The Village Voice

Portrait of Salome for Art & Artists column of a renowned American news and culture paper.

During my academic career I did a lot of research on Salome character in literature and art. It was my passion, not to say obsession. So when The Village Voice commissioned me to draw the biblical princess holding the bloody head of John the Baptist, there was no research needed. It was a dream that came true and I knew that I had to do that job the best I could.

And looks that I did. The illustration has been shortlisted for The World Illustration Awards 2017!

I need to mention that the portrait was created to the text The Only Women Left Alive (sounds a bit like Jarmusch, isn't it?) about the premieres of Metropolitan Opera in 2017.

One of the most important of my illustrations. And one of my personal favorites.
